A momentous ceremony

Yes, the novice cross has gone. The reason is, I'm not a novice any more!
To be honest, all the other stickers have come off as well. But that was the big one, as it were. They're off so that the car can have some winter TLC and get some of its upgrade to Roadsports spec, the next rung up on the Caterham motorsport ladder. The car had a thorough clean this morning, and a rub down with a degreaser to get the residue from all the stickers off. It is now on axle stands with all four wheels off and the damaged left-hand wheel arch removed.
On Monday, all being well, there will be a delivery from Caterham containing some new tyres, a replac...

The car will be rebuilt, and Caterham promise that it will be ready in time for the next race at Brands Hatch.

Advice for the Next Academy
Now, if I recall correctly, it was about this time last year that I had to choose the options for my Academy car. So, by a process of logical deduction, it must be time for the first of the 2013 Academists to start choosing their options. So I thought I'd put my thoughts down.
The big question is of course whether to self build or factory build. But that one is already made for you. Essentially, it boils down to "Did you like Meccano as a kid?" If you did, build it yourself. If you didn't, get Caterham to build it.
Then there is the question of weather equipment. You will need some - this is England, after all. It will rain at some point, even if you plan to keep it in the garage between races. So, you need one of:

Finishing Touches
I decided that even with the race stickers fitted, there was still a last vestige of taste about the car. So I've fixed that with two choice additions.
The tax disc holder was a Christmas present, and the Union Jack has been hanging around for a while.

Stickering up
The Caterham Academy is sponsored - there are companies out there who pay good money to be associated with it. Whether that money makes it cheaper for us to take part, or just lines Caterham's coffers, I don't know, but either way it is in the Academy regulations that we must display the prescribed stickers in the prescribed places.
